Scores Race 2017
The 2017 Scores Race will place on Sunday 10th September, with the Senior race starting at 2pm, and the Junior race starting at 2.05pm.The race is popular with both Club runners, and non-club runners, with unaffiliated runners making up more than half the field.
Entries on the day will be available (+£2) from 12:30 at Race HQ, Christchurch Hall, Herring Fishery Score. Competitors from Birds Eye – please contact the race organiser for entry.
This will be the 22nd year of this unique race taking a course from/to Lowestoft High Street via a route to and along the northern sea wall and returning via the towns historic Scores comprising an up and down total of 13 stepped hills. This is a demanding race, and care needs to be taken over the course of approx 4.75 miles and 401 steps (the Junior race covers approx 1.4 miles and 254 steps). Due to the nature of the Scores, the organisers may have to alter the route advised, although this has not been necessary before.
As last year, team prizes will remain with separate categories for affiliated Clubs and works/social teams. The Junior race will again be open to Juniors from the age of 9.
The course maps for are below – the course has remained unaltered for many years, and we anticipate the same course in 2016.
