Junior Athletics Training:

Every Thursday night from 6pm to 7pm for under 11’s and 7pm to 8pm for under 13’s and under 15’s/17’s at East Point Academy, Kirkley Run, Lowestoft. Our more serious athletes are also invited to train on Mondays from 6pm to 8pm (6pm to 7pm for under 11s, and also to 7pm in winter), and also some Saturday afternoons for field event training.

We train athletes from 8 years old, and currently train in groups of under 11s, under 13s, and under 15s/17s.

We are now back outside for summer training for the track and field season, and won’t return inside until late September, where we will again train for strength and stamina in preparation of the winter cross country league and Sportshall leagues. During the winter we usually train in the sports hall, but also undertake road and beach running for all athletes, with some of the older or more endurance focussed athletes undertaking more of this and longer distances. We broadly follow Athletics 365, and as such the Athletes train in all athletics disciplines and do not specialise until they are competent in all areas or reach U15 level. Now back outdoors, athletes will train in sprints, endurance, long, triple and high jumps and also shot put and javelin.

Last summer the Clubs athletes competed in the East Anglian League, and also the Norfolk Quadkids League, where there was a lot of success. Our athletes also collected several County titles at the Suffolk County Championships in Ipswich. This winter we again competed in the Norfolk Sportshall League, but also this year the Suffolk version. Our athletes collected many team and individual trophies, and also Norfolk County titles. Over 30 of our athletes also represented Suffolk in the Regional Sportshall competition in Hatfield.

Last year along with GYDAC, Bungay Black Dog RC and Framlingham Flyers, we organised an inter-club competition over a road race, track and field day, cross country and sportshall competition. Waveney again won the overall Club element, and also the boys U11 and U13 shields, along with the girls U13 shield. This year we aim to win them all!! The 2016 series kicks off with the road race on Good Friday.

We welcome new members, and offer 2 free taster sessions. For more information, please see our welcome pack and busy fixture list below, or contact our Junior Co-ordinator:

Junior Athletes and Performances:

All our athletes who have performed in a summer league event, or a performance meeting have a profile on the Power of 10 website.

This site will list each athlete’s performance at each event they compete in and will show their PBs and season best. You can search for athlete’s individually or by Club – all athlete’s results are available for anyone to view. Check out some of our Olympians historic results and see how they performed as Juniors!!

Please also view our members page which details the current Club Track and Field records.

We hold an annual awards evening where our Club T&F Champions are crowned, as well as recognising both the best athletes in T&F, XC and Sportshall, and also the most improved athletes, athlete’s athlete and coach’s athlete. Our presentation took place on 1 September 2014, please see the attachment below for this years winners.
