About

On 31st March 1996 Beccles Athletic Club and Lowestoft Athletic Club merged to form Waveney Valley Athletics Club. The club offers competition and training opportunities for both senior and junior athlete’s and road runners in the Lowestoft, Beccles and Waveney area.

During the summer the club competes in the East Anglian Athletics League for track and field and during the winter in the Suffolk Cross-Country League.

The club offers a very active road-running programme, for road runners in the Lowestoft, Beccles and Waveney area. We organise and stage three road races through the year; the Lowestoft Scores Race, 10 mile Turkey Trot race in Beccles, and the Mutford Road Relay. A new addition for 2007 is one of the toughest cross country races staged in the Suffolk Cross-Country League; on the Somerleyton estate around the picturesque Fritton Lake.

Senior training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday nights are at the Carlton Colville Community Centre, which provides some excellent training runs through the surrounding country lanes. For the more structured effort sessions on Thursday nights, we use one of two tracks. These are located at the Denes High School - summer months or The Great Yarmouth Track at Wellesley Road - Winter Months.

The Club offers training throughout the year come rain, hail or shine and we are fortunate to have coaches who are always happy to help and be there to organise the training sessions. You are always welcome to come along and give us a try for a few weeks before joining the club.
